About Suhanya Jeyashiri

Suhanya studied BA Political Science at the University of Birmingham before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and the LLM LP(S) in 2018.

She joined the Wilson’s Public Law team in September 2021 and qualified as a solicitor in August 2024. She has extensive experience in public law, judicial review, and community care work, with a particular focus on challenges to NASS accommodation and unlawful age assessments. She regularly works with vulnerable asylum seekers, including victims of trafficking and modern slavery, with a particular focus on assisting children. Her work involves bringing judicial review claims against public authorities to challenge unlawful decisions. She has also assisted individuals unlawfully detained on Diego Garcia, a British Indian Ocean Territory and has experience advocating for their rights in complex legal matters.

Before joining Wilsons, Suhanya worked at as Caseworker at Advocate , during which she assisted some of the most financially vulnerable members of the country to secure free legal assistance for their immigration, housing, family and employment law issues. She worked closely with the charity Here For Good on their EU Settlement Scheme project and assisted with recruiting over 70 volunteer barristers to help many vulnerable individuals to apply to regularise their immigration status in the UK before the deadline of 30 June 2021.

Prior to this Suhanya worked as an Immigration paralegal specialising in asylum and family reunion applications. She also completed internships at the Access to Justice Foundation , the Litigants in Person Network and has previously volunteered for the London Legal Support Trust .
