About Sophia Poliviou-Singh

Sophia joined Wilsons in 2016 and qualified as a solicitor in July 2020. Since then, she has built a strong reputation for her compassionate and practical approach to family law. In recognition of her growing expertise and commitment to her clients, Sophia was promoted to Associate Solicitor in July 2023.

Sophia advises on a broad spectrum of family law matters and is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate often difficult and emotional circumstances with clarity and confidence. Her areas of expertise include:

Private Law Children matters – helping parents and carers resolve disputes around child arrangements, including where a child lives and how much time they spend with each parent

Public Law Children matters – representing parents and family members in care proceedings and child protection cases brought by the Local Authority

Divorce and Financial Settlements – guiding clients through the divorce process and negotiating fair financial outcomes. She has experience advising on financial matters involving both high-value assets and more modest income or asset levels, understanding that each case brings its own challenges

International Family Law – including complex matters such as child abduction (Hague and Non-Hague convention cases), and Wardship proceedings in the High Court

Domestic Abuse and Injunctions – supporting clients to access urgent legal protection and secure a safe environment for themselves and their children

Sophia works with both legally aided and privately paying clients. She has particular interest and experience in High Court cases, especially those involving the court’s inherent jurisdiction and international issues. Her calm and focused approach makes her a trusted advisor in sensitive and high-stakes matters.

Sophia also represents her clients in court herself, undertaking advocacy on a range of cases; from obtaining emergency protective injunctions to resolving disputes over child contact and living arrangements.

Beyond her role at Wilsons, Sophia is passionate about improving access to justice. She volunteers as a Legal Adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureau within the Central Family Court, where she provides free legal support to individuals who cannot afford representation and do not qualify for legal aid.

Sophia is a committed member of Resolution, an organisation of family law professionals who promote a constructive and non-confrontational approach to resolving family disputes. Her focus is always on helping clients reach solutions that are fair, practical, and in the best interests of any children involved.

Interests: Outside of work, Sophia enjoys travelling, listening to music, and spending quality time with friends and family.
