About Serena Fasso

Serena joined Wilsons in the public law and human rights team in July 2022. She had previously spent 8 years working at a large legal aid firm in London where she represented migrants in family reunification challenges against the Home Office, children and adults with disabilities in education, discrimination challenges, and community care matters. In that role she also secured a generous financial settlement for two children with special needs who had been left without access to education for over a year.

Serena specialises in immigration related judicial review challenges and is passionate about representing unaccompanied minors, young people and trafficking survivors to make sure they can access the support they are entitled to. She has a particular interest in community care matters including age disputes, challenges to NHS funding decisions and hospital discharge delays, and equality and discrimination claims. She has also successfully secured compensation for many clients who were unlawfully detained by the Home Office under immigration powers.

Serena studied Classics at Cambridge University before doing a Master’s degree in international and Islamic law at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, following which she worked with international charities in public health policy and advocacy roles for five years. She then worked as Deputy Head of International Affairs at the Royal College of Physicians managing large international partnerships for two years prior to commencing her legal training. She has interned at EuroJust and the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
