About Muhunthan Paramesvaran
Muhunthan Paramesvaran read Philosophy and English at the University of Sussex, and qualified as a solicitor at Wilson Solicitors LLP in 2003.
Muhunthan was made a partner in 2010 and manages a team of solicitors, trainees and caseworkers. He is an accredited supervisor under the Law Society Immigration Law Advanced Accreditation scheme.
Muhunthan has a thriving private client base and specialises in all aspects of Asylum, Immigration, Nationality and Human Rights law. He has particular expertise in complex cases and is an experienced litigator in the higher courts including the Supreme Court. He is regularly instructed by local authorities to advise them on immigration matters in respect of individuals under their care. He is also regularly instructed to provide expert immigration opinions and evidence in the Family Courts. He is also instructed by businesses, charities and education providers to advise and represent them in their UKVI Sponsor Licencing matters. This includes advice and representation in respect of suspension and revocation decisions.
Muhunthan is listed as one of the top 10 Personal Immigration lawyers in the UK in the Business Today Lawyer Awards 2023. The publication noted that he is one of the top 10 personal immigration lawyers in the country in terms of providing exceptional service in matters pertaining to personal immigration law.
In 2013 Muhunthan was elected to the Law Society Immigration Committee. In 2021 Muhunthan was appointed chair of the Committee, a position in which he served until 2025. In this role he works to shape and improve immigration and asylum law practice and procedure. This has led to active involvement in responding to government consultations on various aspects of immigration law and practice. He also attends meetings with the Home Office, HMCTS and other stakeholders as part of his role. He assisted in drafting the Law Society Practice Notes on Judicial Review and Appeals. He is regularly asked by the national media to provide comment on issues relating to Asylum and Immigration Law. In 2024 he spoke at the Justice Annual Conference on Protecting the Rule of Law.
In 2025 Muhunthan was invited to speak at the German Bar conference in Berlin where he spoke about attacks on Immigration Lawyers and the Judiciary in the UK.
