About Mala Savjani

Mala is a Partner and advises on the full range of immigration, nationality and asylum applications. She also assists clients with complex appeals, deportation matters and judicial reviews. Mala specialises in retained EU law and the EU Settlement Scheme. She works on the SAFE project , which challenges systemic injustices that put Europeans and their families at risk. She is accredited as a supervising senior caseworker under the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme .

Mala is currently ranked in Chambers and Partners as a ‘Star Associate’. As a result of changes to Home Office guidance in February 2025 which negatively impacts individuals who arrived in the UK unlawfully, Mala is assisting a number of clients in challenging their refused British citizenship applications. She also regularly successfully challenges unlawful decisions made against EU nationals and their family members. These results have been life changing for clients. Mala has worked on a number of judicial review claims for Afghan nationals and their family members, and for asylum seeking clients who were subject to potential removal to Rwanda.

Before joining Wilsons, Mala worked at Wesley Gryk Solicitors where she trained as a solicitor. She developed particular expertise in spouse and partner visas, family and private life applications, and applications for British citizenship.

Mala is a volunteer lawyer for Rainbow Migration . She is also an active member of and trainer for the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) . She co-organised ILPA’s first Family and Immigration Law Conference in 2025, which after its initial success, is running again in 2026. She also provides regular training for the Civil Society EUSS Alliance .
