About Maeve Fennelly
Maeve qualified as a solicitor in May 2025. She joined Wilson in September 2020 as a billing assistant and started as a caseworker in the firm’s the Public Law and Human Rights Department in January 2022. During her training contract she assisted on a variety of judicial review claims, including challenges to trafficking decisions, the use of GPS tags for people on immigration bail, and delays in asylum and family reunion decision making. She also assisted in cases challenging the detention and proposed removal of asylum seekers to Rwanda, including Claimant ASM in the lead cases challenging the policy . She also assisted on the judicial review which led to an independent inquiry into events at the Manston short-term holding facility in 2022. She worked extensively on damages claims against the Home Office throughout her training contract.
Maeve represents clients in civil claims against public authorities for breaches of their rights under the Human Rights Act and for their unlawful detention. She is representing individuals in the firm’s group claims for those detained at Manston in 2022, and for others detained for removal to Rwanda in 2022 and 2024. She also works on a range of judicial review claims and community care cases, largely representing asylum seekers and victims of trafficking in challenging state decisions. She has extensive experience of working with vulnerable and traumatised clients.
Maeve has a history degree from the University of Bristol, and completed a Masters in Law with Distinction in 2022. Her Masters dissertation explored environmental human rights and climate litigation in public law.
