About Laurie Vose

Laurie completed a degree in Film Studies and an MA in Understanding and Securing Human Rights before converting to law in 2018. Laurie benefitted from scholarships awarded by BPP University to complete her legal education.

Laurie joined Wilsons in October 2019 training in the Public Law department and then the Family Law department where she spent 6 months working mainly on public and private law children matters. She was admitted as a solicitor in November 2022.

Laurie has a particular interest in the intersection of public law and human rights with family law and in representing children and young people.

Laurie has also acted in cases concerning the accommodation and detention of children in hotels, age assessment challenges, Section 17 Children Act matters, and the detention of age-disputed children in IRCs. She is also instructed in a range of other claims including by people detained at Manston STHF.

Before studying law Laurie worked frontline in feminist organisations supporting women and children subjected to male violence and abuse as well as abuses of state power. She worked as an anti-trafficking advocate at the Poppy Project, Eaves where she acted as a first responder in the National Referral Mechanism and provided support to women victims of trafficking and their children. Laurie then worked at Solace Women’s Aid , firstly as a Domestic Abuse caseworker, before running the Amari Project which provides resettlement housing and support to women affected by trafficking and prostitution.
