About Kabir Joshi
Kabir studied History (BA) at SOAS, University of London, where he received a first class honours. Thereafter he served as Co-President of the SOAS Students’ Union. He was then in receipt of the Law Society Diversity Access Scheme scholarship to study towards an LLM/LPC at the University of Law, where he was awarded a distinction.
Kabir joined Wilsons in 2016 as an immigration caseworker. He became accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme. He undertook his training contract at Wilson Solicitors and qualified as a solicitor in November 2021.
Kabir has a caseload of immigration, asylum and human rights law. He has experience in assisting vulnerable clients, such as victims of trafficking, victims of torture and those detained under Immigration Act powers. He specialises in national security work before the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), having worked on the British citizenship deprivation appeals of U3 v SSHD, P3 v SSHD and C9 v SSHD. He acted in the case of R (Friends of Al Aqsa) v (1) DPP and (2) AG, challenging the failure to issue an arrest warrant for Isaac Herzog, the Israeli President, for grave breaches of the Geneva Convention. He undertakes both legal aid and privately funded work.
