About Gimhani Eriyagolla
Gimhani Eriyagolla joined the public law and human rights team as a senior associate in March 2026.
Gimhani has a background in actions against the police and civil claims against other public authorities. She also has extensive experience representing families in inquests where the state is implicated. She was part of the legal team representing the family of Leon Briggs, who died in police custody following restraint and represented the family of David Morgan who died after taking an overdose whilst at HMP Chelmsford, in which the Governor accepted that Mr Morgan had been subject to inhuman and degrading treatment by staff in breach of his human rights. Gimhani also has a wide practise in migrant support work, bringing judicial reviews to challenge inadequate accommodation, challenging decisions of the Asylum Support Tribunal as well as claims for unlawful detention.
Prior to joining Wilsons Gimhani worked at Hodge Jones and Allen and Irwin Mitchell and completed her training contract at Bhatt Murphy solicitors.
