About Blodina Rakovica

Blodina joined Wilsons’ Public Law and Human Rights department in October 2023. She graduated from University of Sussex, studying law with a year abroad at Maastricht University.

At University, she volunteered at a charity supporting refugees, asylum seekers and those with no recourse to public funds.

Before joining Wilsons, Blodina worked at Leigh Day as a paralegal in the human rights department. She worked on a particularly complex case challenging the removal decision of asylum seekers stranded on the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), which successfully resulted in the defendant withdrawing his decision.

Blodina also previously worked at Duncan Lewis a legal aid firm in the public law and immigration department. She worked on asylum cases, trafficking matters, civil claims and some private immigration work.

Blodina has experience in working in the charity sector. At Hibiscus Initiatives Blodina was a support worker for migrant women, survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence. She provided day-to-day support and advocacy to women about their immigration matters, accommodation, and overall wellbeing. At the charity Blodina also advocated specifically for migrant women who face language barriers and difficulties navigating the system in the UK. She was involved in developing a training programme on cultural mediation .
