About Becky Cutler-Methven

Becky studied Politics and International Relations at Lancaster University, before converting to Law with the GDL at BPP University in 2015. She then completed the Legal Practice Course at the London Metropolitan University in 2017.

She joined Wilsons in 2014 and became an immigration caseworker in 2016. Becky became a trainee Solicitor in November 2017 and qualified as a Solicitor in November 2019, in addition to this she is a Senior IAAS Caseworker and Supervisor. She became and Associate Solicitor in 2023.

Becky has trained in asylum, nationality and public law and now predominantly practices personal and business immigration and asylum law. She has an interest in Human Rights and nationality law as well as sexuality and apostasy-based asylum claims. She has substantial experience in cases relating to children in care and Unacompnied Asylum Seeking Children, including those with age dispute matters. In addition to this she has many years of experience working on cases involving human trafficking, both domestic and international.

She also has experience in complex business immigration applications including Sponsorship Licence cases, Skilled Worker Visas and Sole Representative applications as well as Global Talent Visas and Innovator Visa applications. She also works extensively on Appendix FM and Points Based applications including fiancé/spouse and durable partner visas, student visa applications and parent and children applications, both in country and as entry clearance applications. In addition to this Becky has experience working on immigration adoption matters and complex extended family private life claims. She also has substantial experience preparing settlement application under the domestic violence route.

Becky also works very closely with Local Authority’s on Registration and nationality applications, as well as providing written opinions for family court matters involving children/individuals with complex immigration backgrounds.

Becky has worked on cases before the First Tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal and Court of Appeal. In addition to this she has worked extensively in partnership with St Mungo’s Charity to assist in the registration of numerous European citizens with vulnerable housing and personal needs under the EU Settlement Scheme. Separate to this partnership she also works regularly on matters under Appendix EU.

Before joining Wilsons, Becky volunteered with the firm Imran Khan & Partners and organisations such as Amnesty International , PlanUK and the Citizens Advice Bureau .

Becky also has experience working with vulnerable individuals at the Y.M.C.A , local Homeless Shelters, Barnardo’s , and has volunteered in the legal departments at Magistrates’ courts and Borough and City Councils. Becky also worked with the organisation Fuel Poverty Action , focussing on campaigns against social and economic inequality. Becky currently volunteers for Lifelines UK ; an organisation that provides assistance and correspondence to those on death row in the United States. She has also volunteered for the Trussel Trust , an organisation that assists in giving emergency food and supportive advice to people in crisis in the local community.
