About Anna Olney-Smith

Anna qualified as a solicitor in June 2025. She joined the firm’s billing team in November 2021, before starting as a trainee solicitor in the firm’s Public Law & Human Rights team in April 2023.

Throughout her time in the Public Law & Human Rights department, Anna has worked on a range of judicial review cases and civil claims. She has significant experience working with vulnerable people, including victims of trafficking and age-disputed young people. Recently, she has assisted with a challenge to the ‘Good Character’ requirement for British citizenship applications. She has worked on a wide range of civil claims against public authorities, with a particular focus on claims for unlawful detention. She is currently working on a number of group claims, along with other members of the department, and assists several clients who were detained at Manston in 2022 and clients who were detained in 2022 and 2024 to be removed to Rwanda.

Anna graduated from the University of Leeds with a First in English Literature (European) in 2020. Following this, she went on to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law in 2021.
