Alex graduated from Cardiff University with LLB Hons in Law and French and completed her Legal Practice Course at UWE Bristol Institute of Legal Practice.

Alex qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and has practiced exclusively in family law since her qualification. She joined Wilson Solicitors LLP in April 2023.

Alex has significant experience in dealing with divorce/dissolution of civil partnerships, separation and financial remedy for both married and unmarried clients.

Alex has a particular interest in children law and advises on all matters concerning private children issues including child arrangements, relocation (both domestic and international) and parental responsibility. She has expertise in complex private children matters, including those with significant welfare concerns where other agencies may be involved.

Alex frequently represents clients in cases involving allegations of domestic abuse and controlling and coercive behaviour, and ensures those clients are granted the relevant protective orders. Alex also advises on other domestic abuse matters and applications in relation to female genital mutilation (FGM) orders.

Alex has recently been involved in a private children matter in the High Court and Court of Appeal involving an application to significantly curtail the exercise of parental responsibility of a married father. This gave rise to the court considering the possibility of a declaration of incompatibility being made under the Human Rights Act 1989 in relation to section 2 of Children Act 1989. The case raises important issues around the status of parental responsibility and the lack of remedy currently available to remove the parental responsibility of a married father.

Alex’s other area of expertise is financial remedy. She regularly advises on a range of financial matters and has dealt with cases involving third party interests and assets held abroad. She is focused on assisting clients to find a resolution to financial disputes where possible however she clearly recognises when court intervention is needed. Alex has concluded and settled many financial remedy cases by way of consent orders, or with settlement achieved by way of early FDR at court, via solicitor led negotiations and where clients have attended mediation.

Alex is committed to adopting a non-confrontational approach when dealing with client matters. She sensitively guides and supports her clients through the legal issues they face, providing them with constructive, focused, and pragmatic advice. Whilst she is committed to resolving matters amicably, she has a robust approach where needed and has significant experience of court proceedings.

Alex is a member of Resolution and is a Resolution Accredited Specialist, in the areas of Private Children and Financial Remedy. She has experience as a volunteer Legal Advisor for Rights of Women.
