About Alex Byrne
Alex is a Family Solicitor at Wilsons.
He studied Law at Lancaster University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in International Human Rights Law in 2016, before completing his Legal Practice Course in Manchester.
Alex has over 7 years’ experience of working within both the public and private sectors of family law, having worked as a paralegal for a Greater Manchester Local Authority Social Care Department for 3 years before moving to private practice for a further 4 years.
Alex was admitted as a solicitor in December 2022 and his practice covers all areas of family law, with a focus on financial remedies and private children disputes following the relationship breakdown of married couples, civil partners, and unmarried couples.
In relation to financial matters, this includes negotiating financial settlements, advising on pre-and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, financial consent orders and all contested proceedings. For children matters this includes negotiating arrangements outside of court (which can include alongside mediation) or assisting with the court process. Alex has worked on cases involving international relocation, allegations of serious harm and parental alienation. He is also instructed by parents in public law children proceedings and has experience in complex cases.
Alex is a Mediator currently working towards accreditation with the Family Mediation Council & is a member of Resolution.
He previously spent over 18 months teaching English in public schools in Vietnam, Colombia & Argentina for the British Council. In his spare time, he continues to enjoy teaching business English to students and professionals throughout Europe.
