If you are on a very low income legal aid may be available for your case. This means that you do not have to pay for your legal costs – the government pays.
Legal aid services
We have been awarded a contract by the government to provide legal aid in immigration law, family law, public law, community care, and claims against public authorities.
Legal aid is only available for a limited type of these cases and we are restricted by our capacity in the number of legal aid cases we are able to take on at any one time.

Who qualifies for legal aid?
A merits and means test has to be met before you qualify for legal aid.
The merits test
To carry out the merits test we will need to know something about your case and whether it has a prospect of succeeding.
The means test
To carry out the means test we will need to know about your income and savings and whether you have any other source of financial support. We will require evidence of your income and savings.
