Immigration fees

The exact number of hours required will depend on the circumstances of your case, including:

• The factual and legal complexity of the case and whether the application complies with the relevant law
• The amount of supporting evidence we need to consider
• Which language or languages you speak
• Whether you are applying with other dependants
• The level of contact the case requires and the number of enquiries you have during your case

If you can provide sufficient evidence at our first meeting and clearly meet the applicable Immigration Rules, the cost is likely to be at the lower end of the estimated range.

The work will involve:

Initial advice and assessment — typically 1–5 hours

• Discussing your circumstances in detail
• Confirming whether this is the most appropriate application for you to make
• Discussing what other options may be available to you
• Advising you about the requirements of the Immigration Rules, EEA Regulations or citizenship laws and whether you meet the criteria
• Advising whether any criteria you do not currently fulfil can be overcome and how

Reviewing your supporting evidence — typically 1–5 hours

We will consider the supporting evidence you provide.

The amount of time required will depend on:

• The number of documents
• Whether any documents need to be translated
• Whether anything is missing
• How long it will take to obtain any missing documents

Helping you obtain further evidence — typically 1–5 hours

Where necessary, we will help you obtain further evidence, such as medical records and bank statements. This may also include taking statements from witnesses.

Preparing and submitting your application — typically 1–5 hours

We will prepare your application and submit it on your behalf.

Advice about a Home Office interview — typically 1–5 hours

It is very rare for there to be an interview. However, if the Home Office asks you to attend one, we will give you clear advice at the appropriate time.

We will also discuss the possibility of us attending the interview with you.

Advice about the outcome — typically 1–2 hours

We will advise you about the outcome of your application and any further steps you need to take.

In some cases, it may be appropriate to delegate tasks to a trainee solicitor or caseworker. We will seek your agreement before doing so.

Work completed by a trainee solicitor or caseworker will be charged at between £100 and £150 per hour, depending on their experience.

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties.

We will handle the payment of disbursements on your behalf to help ensure a smoother process.

Disbursements may include:

• Interpreter fees: £25–£50 per hour. Most applications will normally require between 3 and 10 hours of client contact with an interpreter, depending on the complexity of your case.
• Independent expert reports: This may include reports from medical experts. These are not required in many cases, and we will let you know as soon as possible if we consider an expert report necessary.
• Travel expenses: If there is a Home Office interview and we attend with you, there will be additional disbursements for our mileage and travel expenses.

The costs quoted do not include:

• Any Home Office fees for making the application. You will pay these directly to the Home Office as part of the application process.
• Advice and assistance relating to an appeal if the Home Office refuses your application.

We will normally be able to submit this type of application within 1–3 weeks of you instructing us, depending on the availability of the required documents.

We will let you know at the earliest opportunity if it is likely to take longer.

If your case is urgent and has a submission deadline within one week, we will discuss the practicalities of meeting the deadline with you. Where we are able to meet it, we will agree an appropriate plan of action.

Please note that the anticipated number of hours and fees are estimates based on the information above. Every application is different, and we can give you a more accurate estimate once we have more information about your specific case.
